Hi Roy, I'm Giang, My nick name is Jang Loa ... i'm a young Vietnamese DJ ...
In Viet Nam, DJ is a new field and not yet popular. Many DJs are amateur; do not have experiences as well as knowledge about creating music and beats, about studio techniques and even basic music awareness. Being a DJ in a club in Viet Nam is extremely difficult for free styling and self-growth based on the reason in which Vietnamese is not very easy in accepting such new thing and sudden changes. The audiences are tending to follow popularity and the property vision of market field. Due to that reason, being a young DJ, to be known of in Viet Nam, you have to have individuality. All at once, you have got to interact to the ears of the listeners, to their souls, as well as the latest trends and news in the world, observing, choosing and be the leader to bring the listeners from a club to the world, to the innovation of the globe. Therefore, some DJs with very good technique and knowledge but are still cannot please the need and desire of a club owner or wider, the clubbers in Viet Nam; and it is another obstacle to expose yourself and your own creativeness in just any night in a club in Viet Nam. To a Vietnamese DJ, being able to understand and recognize what the clubbers want will make him/her the best DJ. When their desires are pleased, the clubbers can ignored the technique problems, ignored moments of unpopular songs, but then they will scream out, wild out all over the dance floor when a song said to be popular is being played. I may be playing Wait A Minute of Pussy Cat Dolls 3-4 months before the video clip is being played on MTV, the audience would stand frozen, without any interest on the new introduced song. But, as soon as the video clip is being broadcasted on MTV, even the song is quite “last season”, clubbers are all demanding for the song. As soon as they heard their song is being played, no need for motivation, they will freely go and get wild on the dance floor. 19 in every 20 DJs in Viet Nam do not know the basic requirement of knowledge in music, which should have been taught during elementary school. In addition, they have such shallow experience with latest music technologies such as Timecode technique or Scratch Live, even the quantity signal in Kbps from a vinyl disk.
In the following is a mixed of myself, which was made from the latest music updated from world wide DJs, a little taste to reach out to the world…a little failure of Vietnamese DJs and… a little of our current popularity. I am looking forward for your response.
